About 2 hours from Sanur in the south of Tulamben, Amed is a fishing village. The fishermen rent their boats called the « Jukungs », after being back from fishing. The region is poor and arid and the life in Amed is along the coast. It is a black sandy beach. Bali Breizh Divers suggests you to visit the following dive sites:
Diving Jemeluk: Its drop off and pyramids
In 10 minutes by Jukung (fishing boat) you will arrive on one of the 2 dive sites starting at 5 meters and until 60 meters deep. The sites offer gorgon, sponges, coral reefs and a multitude of nudibranchs and reef fish.
On the drop off, you will always see turtles, gray sharks, black/white-tip sharks, groupers, Napoleon fish, and humphead parrotfish.
The pyramids are artificial reefs which have been created twenty years ago after the passage of el nino attracting a lot of reef fish to protect themselves. Thus, you will also cross the path of their predators. This dive is about twenty meters deep and ends in the breathtakingly drop off of 60 meters deep which gives an incredible contrast.
Diving Lipah bay
This dive site is located 3 km from Jemeluk. The scuba dive get a wreck located near the beach. Its depth is 5 meters (ideal for snokerling). This site is the point of departure and return from your dive. This wreck is a small Japanese vessel with a steel hull 20 meters long. It is now beautiful as it is encrusted with gorgon, sponges and black coral. This site is very rich and you will see such as reef fish, ghost fish, juvenile fish, shrimp, crabs and many porcelain nudibranchs.
